Pdf Summary
Stakeholders are the people or groups affected by an organisation’s decisions. Their interests and needs vary depending on their role, so understanding them is essential before making changes.

Key stakeholder questions include:
- Who will be affected?
- What are their main concerns and motivations?
- How can the organisation meet each group’s needs?
- What communication method works best for each group?
- Who might support the decision, and who might resist it?

Different stakeholders often have different priorities. For example:
- In an ERP implementation, IT may want security and efficiency, finance needs accurate reporting, operations wants minimal disruption, end-users need a simple interface, and the board expects proof of ROI.
- In a cost reduction initiative, the CFO may seek quick savings, HR may worry about morale, department heads may fear service cuts, and employees may fear job losses.
- In new technology adoption, technical teams may be enthusiastic, senior management may focus on business value, compliance may be concerned about regulations, and customers may want better service.

Decisions made within the organisation can have wide-ranging impacts. They may improve efficiency, reduce costs, or support growth, but they can also create disruption, reduce morale, increase workload, or raise concerns about job security and compliance.

To manage these effects effectively, organisations should identify stakeholder interests early, address concerns directly, and tailor communication to each group. Doing so helps build support, reduce resistance, and increase the chances of successful change.
