Video Summary
The webinar, hosted by Mike Gibson from the Institute of Sales Professionals, featured Damien Colhen of Perceptions Coaching discussing how to pivot your mindset after COVID. Damien explained the “change curve,” showing how external events can trigger fear, denial, and lowered performance before adaptation occurs. He emphasized that much of our thinking is unconscious and shaped by repeated beliefs, which can limit us if left unexamined.

He also described emotional “vibration,” arguing that lower states like fear, shame, and anger restrict creativity, while higher states like gratitude, courage, and love support resilience and openness. Practical tips included staying present, connecting with nature, breathing exercises, meditation, and using anchors to manage anxiety.

Damien explored six human needs—certainty, uncertainty, purpose, belonging, growth, and contribution—and stressed the importance of aligning strengths, values, and relationships to make a meaningful contribution. He also discussed common self-sabotaging beliefs such as “I’m not good enough,” “I’m not worthy,” and “I don’t belong,” and how these can affect work and relationships.

In the Q&A, he shared personal and professional examples of overcoming adversity, recommended resources like YouTube, Headspace, and TED Talks, and advised focusing on the client as a human being to reduce anxiety in sales situations.
