Video Summary
The webinar argued that manager coaching is the biggest overlooked lever in sales performance because it multiplies the impact of enablement, methodology, and technology. Effective coaching improves revenue growth, win rates, ramp time, and retention.

The speaker, Matt Webb, explained the difference between coaching and mentoring: coaching is questioning-based, short-cycle, and focused on helping people think and act for themselves; mentoring is more directive and shares experience when the person genuinely doesn’t know what to do. A useful coaching mindset is “WAIT” — Why Am I Talking?

He emphasized that today’s sales environment is more complex: buyers spend less time with sellers, buying groups are larger, and AI makes information easier to access. That means coaching should focus on improving the quality of sales interactions and on the pipeline levers of value, volume, and velocity.

A key theme was cadence: coaching must be regular, not ad hoc, with diagnosis, practice, follow-up, embedding, and measurement. The biggest mistakes are jumping to solutions too quickly and failing to build coaching discipline across all management levels.
